Nothing Crazy - Raids 40-42 - Level 14

I am keen to get to Levels 14 and 15.  At Level 14 I'll unlock Peacekeeper 2 which means I'll have access to the canted sights, which I like just because they are easier to use on my keyboard than a variable scope.  Level 15, of course, unlocks the flea market, which will mean I don't have to fill my stash with both quest and hideout items. I can focus on the former. Raid 40 - Shoreline Loot Run I have an operational task on Shoreline and it pays good XP.  So Shoreline.  I did a cache run. One of the first caches I hit had a GPU. I almost didn't take it, for fear of having some flying radar driven adversary making a beeline to me. But I took it.  Last cache had a new Class 5 Ghzel.  Didn't see a soul. Time In Raid: 32 minutes, 20 seconds Exp: 1387 Kills (sniper scavs): Rodion Dzheyk and Lev Hlyst.  Godspeed gentlemen. Ammo Used: 4, Hits: 2 Accuracy: 0.5. Damage to Body: 70 Raid 41 - The Jaunt I need a bunch of quest items. Loose meds being high on the list. Off to C

Stumbling - Raids 35-39 - Level 13

Mechanic wants to me to repair some control panels on Factory. I really don't want to do this, but this quest pays the most XP right now and I'm trying to reach Level 14 (for Peacekeeper Level 2) and Level 15 (for the flea).  I'm going to go into Factory at night to see if I can get this done easier. Raid 35 -  Loadout: Grach pistol, rig, some meds, ears, a sling backpack. One set of tools in my secure container. Spawned behind forklift, repaired the first panel.  I don't have a second set of tools, so I headed to extract. Just as I stepped out of the glass hallway into the big room with the door to Gate 3, someone came running up. I moved between the steel tanks, I aimed down sight in the darkness. The footsteps came around, I tracked them. A flashlight came on and I was dead before I could even pull the trigger, my adversary already locked onto my position. It's not like I had been quiet, and the spawns/pathing in Factory make many things predictable - but that wa

Success on Customs - Raids 33 and 34 - Level 13

Quest-wise, I'm stuck at the moment. I need a couple of loose meds to trade for the 205 key from Therapist so I can run Operation Aquarius.  I need a broken HD so I can trade for a handguard with rails to finish my Gunsmith 1 quest.  So, it's off shopping I go. Raid 33 - Success I'll skip the blow-by-blow. I took my AK-105 to Customs and fought a bunch of scavs. Extracted successfully with OK loot, but neither of the items that I need. Time In Raid: 22:32 Exp: 2653 Shots fired: 74, Hits: 17, Accuracy: 0.16, Damage to body: 580, Damage to armor: 7 Kills (AI Scavs, probably one player scav): Maks Gruzchik, Tolyan Sheva, Gosha Moloko, Petka Chiter, Maksim Konfliktnyy.  Godspeed gentlemen. Sorry to ruin your milk and money run Petka. Remarks many of the scavs seem to be much more difficult than normal. Usually when online it seems the vast majority of scavs are "Easy" or "Medium". But these days the majority seem "Hard" or "Impossible".

Bleeding Out - Raid 32 - Level 12

Once I reach the flea market I usually carry a CMS and an AFAK in my little four slot alpha secure container, which leaves one slot open for a key typically.  But as I'm a low level who can't buy a CMS or an AFAK, it's more varied, some combination of peas, cheese, keys. Raid 32 - Nicked Destination: Customs Loadout: "Tetanus", my silenced AKMSN with PSO scope, some class 3 armor, ears, meds, backpack, magazines of PS ammo.   I don't have a specific goal here, just a long shopping list.  I spawned in the far corner of the map at Trailer Park.  Made my way to the Customs house and snuck into its back yard.  A scav was talking around the corner, in front of the house. I peered around, made sure the coast was clear, then stepped up to the corner and began scoping the area, looking for the scav.  A different scav shouted, somewhere to my right, behind me. I scrambled, he fired, the first scav came running. I do not know where that scav who is firing on me is, and

Fumbling in the Woods - Raids 30 and 31 - Level 12

All my quests are just find and fetch, with the exception of Shootout Picnic.  I was hoping to double up that quest with the Jaeger ones, but I still haven't found him his snacks.  The Woods map is a good place for finding a bite to eat, and if I don't do anything stupid I can probably avoid conflict and just focus on looting. So maybe there? Raid 30 - Cutting Oneself I have an AKMSN that I've modded. The thing looks dangerous ... to its owner. It's all exposed edges and rusted corners, and requires gloves and a tetanus shot to handle.  I've got that and some class 3 armor, meds, ears. Plus 3001 rubles for extract.  I spawned between the scope shack and the water. I made a quick plan: I'm going to hit ZB-014 in hopes of getting those 60 round magazines, and then hook around towards the village and take either the vehicle or northern UN checkpoint extracts.   I looted the body by the water, and began to make my way to scav house.  Someone was firing somewhere in

Funker Bunker, Raids 27-29, Level 12

The Bunker Part 2 is the quest that pays the most XP with a whopping 9,200 XP which is far more than any other quest available to me.  I need to get it done. Raid 27 - The Bunker Part 2.2 Destination: Reserve Loadout:  MP5, class 4 armored rig, meds, ears, backpack. I spawned next to the scavlands shared extract. Booked it to White Bishop, dropped into the basement. My plan is not well thought out. With this spawn I'm pretty close to the bunker - maybe if I hustle I can just hit the five entrances before anyone else makes it? I crossed the water, and started going up the stairs to King. There was shuffling in that upper corridor. Someone is there.  I decided to not be deterred - I'll hop up and hop down.  As I went up the stairs I saw the silhouette of not one, but two players looking at me. I fired, they fired. Time In Raid: 2 minutes, 3 seconds Exp: 0 Shots Fired: 21, Hits: 2, Damage to Body: 58, Damage to armor: 43 Killed by: TTV_Buddy_420 .   GG TTV_Buddy_420 ! Mistakes wha

Tilted in Tarkov - Raids 22-26, Level 11

Funds are getting low, no good weapons in stash.  Need some rubles. Raid 22 - Pincered Destination: Customs Loadout: pistol and rig and backpack and meds. No armor. Spawned behind military checkpoint - made my way to the loot rich industrial section. As I entered through the gap in the wall saw a scav standing in the road, but not close. I made the mistake of shooting at him.  He didn't fire back, but I got his attention. I looped around the liquid storage container and cut back through the go-between, hoping to finish him and closer range and a more protected angle. No sign of him. Went to the next go-between - there was a scav on the other side. Fired at him, but my shots missed. Don't take him head on. I backed out and prepared to once again loop around the long way. But as I went the first scav was there. I ducked behind some pipes. The pistol is not feeling good. I was firing on him, landing shots, but not bringing him down. I used the pipes to protect myself from him. Unt

Reservations - Raids 19, 20, 21 - Level 10

I made level 10 last raid, which means "The Bunker, Part 1" is now available to me.  I've been looking forward to this, because I know the bunker well and I can handle the raiders in CQB down there. Maybe I can get some decent weapons and armor. But this assumes there are raiders. In the last wipe the raiders were often absent, and even in the one trip I made earlier this wipe, they weren't present.  In previous wipes, in offline mode, so long as the "Enable Bosses" option was elected, the raiders were 100% always there.  This wipe things are different. Even in offline mode, the raiders may not be there.  A bug perhaps?  I made a discovery in offline mode. The bunker was empty, the D-2 switch didn't change anything. Annoyed, I began to search farther away, outside the extremes of the bunker. Once I found a single raider in the basement of Black Pawn, in the exercise rooms. And another time I found three of them in a back hallway in the basement in White

Back at It - Raids 16-18 - Level 10

The winter holidays in Russia always extend well past the first week of January and BSG typically celebrates with Twitch drops and a prolonging of their Christmas events.  I had a bit of time and played on several different occasions, but due to both queues and super long raid matching times, I never succeeded in playing online. Instead I just played offline and began working at Lighthouse.   The Lighthouse map is super hard for BEAR players, and it's also harder offline than online (because there are more rogues).  It was fun. I won't post anything more about it now. But I made a map of the fixed emplacement fields of fire and I might put up a video tutorial once I figure out the best way of killing these last roaming rogues.  Last night I returned to regular raiding.   Goals: loot and weapons.  I still need a ton of basic things for my hideout (like measuring tape and toilet paper), as well as salewas, Jaeger food, and more.  But I also need a decent assault rifle.  Raid 16

Field of Fire of Emplaced Weapons at Lighthouse USEC Base, for BEARS

On the new Lighthouse map, the USEC rogues are very aggressive against BEARS and will sight on you out to 300 meters or more, and will fire on you far quicker than they will on a USEC PMC.  The fixed guns are particularly dangerous as they can kill you with a single hit when you might not even realize you are close to the base. I made a map with some fields of fire noted on it. There are two mounted machine guns on building 1 , two mounted machine guns and a grenade launcher on building 2 , and a single machine gun on building 3 .  Plus there is a mounted machine gun and grenade launcher on the southwest corner of the base (lower right on this map).  I have noted the general field of fire of each of these weapons on the map. Obviously, there is a lot of cover, so just because you are standing in a red zone on this map doesn't necessarily mean you can be seen and hit. BUT, if there is any sort of line of sight (including through trees, bushes, walls and vehicles) and you are BEAR, t

New Years Raiding - Raids 9 to 15 - Level 9

BSG is running a ton of Christmas/New Years events - more than they ever have before. There are Christmas trees in the hideout, ornaments to loot, Christmas trees on the map with scavs and scav bosses circling them, Santa Claus and Ded Moroz are both wandering around handing out presents and there are air drops from planes!  All of these things, the holiday, and the new wipe with VOIP means two things: tons of new players and the servers are struggling.  Supposedly BSG is having some problems that aren't simply fixed by adding new servers - probably because of the VOIP, which presents several architectural challenges. I tried to play day before yesterday, but couldn't connect to any real raids. Instead I ran some offline raids, which were a lot of fun. I hunted the various bosses around the Christmas trees.  Yesterday I also had some free time and ran several online raids. Raid 9 - Delivery From The Past Part I and Supplier Destination: Customs Loadout: trusty AK-74M, beaten up
