Checking and Checking - Raids 6, 7 and 8 - Level 7.

Raid 6 - Exit Stage Right I was able to do the Bronze Pocket Watch quest without the machinery key.  Can I get the package for Delivery from the Past without the Director's office key? I've done that before. Destination: Customs Loadout: AK-74M with PSO scope, Class 4 armor, meds, ears.   The plan is simple: kill some time or whatever is in front of the barrel of my weapon and then saunter over to the Director's office to see if someone has been there and left it open.  Spawned behind Old Gas. Checked my extracts - neither Crossroads or Trailer Park are on the list, which is very strange. So that means I need to cross the river twice.  Awkward.  But there is no sense rushing over there.  So I took time wandering around the industrial section of the map. Filled my bag full of loot, killed maybe three scavs. Then I worked my way back. There were scavs talking near RUAF.  I killed one, and was chasing another behind the big vehicle parked there. The extract countdown appeared.

The Bronze Pocket Watch - Raids 4 and 5 - Level 5

Plan I've only run two raids on Customs so far this wipe, but in both of them I noticed that the door to the truck with the pocket watch was open. Left open, no doubt, by someone working on the Bronze Pocket Watch quest.  So my plan is simple: hang out for five minutes, then go see if the door is open and hopefully get the watch and scoot. Otherwise, loop up to dorms to get the machinery key (assuming it's still there). Raid 4 - Red Shirted Loadout: Class 4 armor, AK-74M with PSO scope, ears, meds. Spawned in the far corner of the trailer park.  Awesome. Took shelter in a bush, waited for 5 minutes, and crossed the map. There is this sound bug where my own footsteps sound like they are behind me, and sometimes bush sounds from my movement are "late".  It confuses me sometimes. On my last Woods raid I fled from myself at one point.   I entered the construction area from the bush obscured gap in the fence.  Area seemed clear. I strode forward. There was a blood stain on

Boring but Successful - Raid 3 - Level 5

I went to Woods to fetch Jaeger's note. Got a spawn I've never seen before - in the northwest quadrant, but not at map edge - more inside.   I headed out, cover to cover, concealment to concealment, listening to weapon fire from every direction. BAM! Someone shot me as I moved. I stepped behind a fat tree and popped a pain pill. Have a broken arm and a bleed.  Backed away from the tree as my assailant continued to fire on it,  then ran behind a big stone outcropping and took cover. Footsteps approached heading towards my left, but then they veered to my right. I right leaned out from cover.  Come on, whoever you are, come and get me before my ibuprofen wears off.  The footsteps ran away. What?  I waited, then used my meds.  Fortunately, my arm hadn't gone black.  So I resumed, cover to cover, concealment to concealment.  Mostly sticking to the shadows, and avoiding places where players would be. I circled the peak and got Jaegers message and then made my way to extract.   I

A Good Raid - Raid 2 - Level 3

Destination: Customs Goal: Kill 3 more scavs for Debut quest, find Salewas. Progress: Rocking Raid 2 Loadout: AK-74M lightly modded with PSO scope, ears, meds, backpack, class 4 armored rig. Spawned across road in front of the customs house.  Entered a bush and switched the weapon to autofire, ranged the scope, changed the reticle color, and turned on the aiming laser.  Ok - now I'm ready.  If I move right off spawn I'm more likely to encounter other PMCs, and they are not a priority right now - I want scav kills. Of course, if I wait too long, all the scavs might be killed so there is a balance. I decided to wait just three minutes.  After a short sit I crept out of the bushes and prepared to stand and head out.  There was blue helmeted PMC crouch walking on the other side of the road. I was slightly behind him.  I aimed down sight through the scope - he must have heard that because he immediately froze.  Which was very nice of him. It made for an easy shot for me and a learni

Raid 1 - Level 2

I have not played Escape from Tarkov in over a month now.  Schedules have changed, interests and hobbies have shifted a bit.  I started playing EFT just over a year ago and started this blog a month after that.  So a year is a good run.  If it weren't for the new wipe and the 12.12 update, I probably wouldn't play at all. I am really not looking forward to running the same set of missions again ( Bronze Pocket Watch, Delivery from the Past).  Bleah.  But I'm very curious about the new map and what the introduction of inertia will mean to the game. I'm less curious about VOIP - I have turned it on so but I'm not sure if I'll use or enjoy it.  But I'm curious. The game wiped on Sunday. I downloaded it, updated, and tried to immediately jump into a raid on the new Lighthouse map.  But there were backend issues and I was unable to join a real raid. I explored the map briefly in offline mode, struggled with the inertia changes a bit, and then put the game down. S
