Field of Fire of Emplaced Weapons at Lighthouse USEC Base, for BEARS

On the new Lighthouse map, the USEC rogues are very aggressive against BEARS and will sight on you out to 300 meters or more, and will fire on you far quicker than they will on a USEC PMC.  The fixed guns are particularly dangerous as they can kill you with a single hit when you might not even realize you are close to the base.

I made a map with some fields of fire noted on it. There are two mounted machine guns on building 1, two mounted machine guns and a grenade launcher on building 2, and a single machine gun on building 3.  Plus there is a mounted machine gun and grenade launcher on the southwest corner of the base (lower right on this map).  I have noted the general field of fire of each of these weapons on the map. Obviously, there is a lot of cover, so just because you are standing in a red zone on this map doesn't necessarily mean you can be seen and hit. BUT, if there is any sort of line of sight (including through trees, bushes, walls and vehicles) and you are BEAR, then you could will get hit.

Some other notes:

  • building 1 has two rogues on top manning the two emplaced weapons.
  • building 1 is usually empty of rogues. However, in offline mode, it will usually have two rogues in it, or along the long outside edge of it, or in either the front or back parking lot. These rogues will often spawn late and will usually slowly reposition themselves in/around the building (from inside to a parking lot, to the outside long side of the building, to the other parking lot, back to inside)
  • building 2 has three rogues on top manning the emplaced weapons.
  • building 2 has four rogues inside that can come out into the parking lots on the three sides of that building.  They won't go further away than that.
  • building 3 has two rogues atop but only one machine gun.
  • This second "loose" rogue on building 3 can be quite dangerous, since he roams around the top of that building rather than sitting in one place.
  • building 3 is usually empty of rogues. But in offline mode there may be two inside the building or positioning themselves around it. Often spawning in late.
  • There are 3 or 4 rogues wandering the water treatment area - they are usually around the helicopter and supposedly do not wander away from the two tan areas you see there. However, they'll fire on you if they see you. Note that the blue fence that is between the base and the mountain has gaps in it, and they can see and kill you through them - especially if you are BEAR.  You may not be able to see them.
  • The rogues in the buildings can fire out the windows, including the side windows (for targets that are high on rocks) or the small garage windows (at targets in the parking lots).
  • The rogues on top of the buildings, or in the southeast corner, can move around, often replacing each other at the emplaced weapons. So never assume a weapon is unmanned just because you killed the guy who was first manning it. In particular, if player scavs start shooting at an emplaced weapon rooftop rogue, he may just change to the other emplaced weapon.
  • If you fire repeatedly at an emplaced weapon rogue who cannot fire on you (because you have a sneaky angle) that rogue may simply stand up from his emplaced weapon, turn, and kill you with his assault rifle. So once you start firing on a rogue, you need to kill him.
  • I'm not sure, but the grenade launcher rogue on building 2 might be bugged. I've never seen it fired, and I've definitely ventured into his line of sight when he was up and he did nothing.  When he spots me, he seems to hunker down as if to aim, but then nothing happens. Update: he's back on duty.
  • The rogues in the southwest corner are often down on the ground close to the entrances rather than at their position at the emplaced weapons. It seems sometimes they spawn down there or become curious if they hear noise on the street. Just because you don't see them in their towers shouldn't lead you to be complacent.
  • If the raid is mostly empty of players, then fewer rogues spawn. I've seen a raid with as few as two rogues in the entire water treatment area.

Counting Cheaters - Part 4

Methodology Because of this blog, I have a record of the name of everyone who kills me, as well as a mostly complete record of the name of everyone I manage to kill.  Every two months this wipe (12.12) I look up all those names in the in-game chat tool.  The presumption being that if a name is no longer in the chat tool then either that person changed their name, or they were banned for cheating.   It is not a perfect methodology nor do I have a lot of data, but it's far better than just going by feel, which is what most people do. The arguments about cheating on Reddit are mostly silly as people just try to generalize anecdotal experiences.  My Anecdotal Experience Since I broached the topic, here is my own anecdotal experience. Before I started doing this I didn't feel like I had encountered many cheaters in Wipe 12.12.  Just a couple.   But since I've started tracking, my view has become more jaundiced and now I have more suspicions. BUT, overall this wipe, I feel like I

On "The Video"

No doubt, anyone following Tarkov has seen the video from Goat:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p5LfGcDB7Ek If you've read my blog before, you know I've tried tracking cheaters in the past by checking all my kills and killers in the in-game chat tool over time. I made several posts, the last of which was this one:  https://itarkovpoorly.blogspot.com/2022/06/counting-cheater-part-4.html My take on the video?  The reason it's called "The wiggle that killed tarkov" is because if cheaters are signaling each other via wiggling, it means there is a CULTURE of cheating and cheaters. And that's the shocking thing. It's not just "some people cheat", it's that there is a whole CULTURE of people cheating, with their own set of spoken/unspoken rules, behaviors, norms and manners. And if you've got a whole culture around something, then it's likely widespread and endemic. And disappointing.  Someone made the remark on Reddit that watching the vi
