Update: Raids 75 - 77 - PvP Much?

 Goals:

  • repair last panel and extract
  • improve PvP
  • have fun
  • kill scavs or players
  • try not worry about dying
Destination: Factory

Loadout for these raids: SMG (Vityaz PP-19-01) with Pst gzh, Class 3 armor (Zhuk Press typically), meds, ears, backpack with Tools.  I usually salt my magazines with AP6.3, but that takes too much time, so today it was just Pst gzh.

Raid 75

Spawned in the room south of the Silos.  By the time I turned on my aiming laser and made sure the weapon was set to autofire, there was already fighting going on in the stairwell and upper stories. I took cover behind a pillar, in case anyone approached my door. No one did. Allright, time to go. Went forward and dropped into the pit. Heard footsteps coming my way - sounded like a above. Scurried to the side tunnel, made sure it was clear, and backed into it. Footsteps were right on top of me - whoever it is must be above.  Wait a second... I turned around, and a player was right behind me. Oddly, he was throwing a grenade. (Why not just shoot me in the back of the head?) He ran away, I ran after him, we rounded a corner and I began shooting. I dumped a mag as we rounded another corner then I had to reload. CarlosL2D turned around and shot me dead with a shotgun.  Nice work CarlosL2D !

Time In Raid: 1 minute, 54 seconds
Exp: 0

Mistakes

  • misplacing the sound
  • poor aim. both missing shots and not aiming at head.

Successes

  • not killed by grenade

Raid 76 - Quest Completed

Loadout: using a 6B3TM-01M armored rig I got off the flea market. Vityaz is the basic one from Prapor, no silencer or laser.

Spawned down near Gate 0, south of the Blue Container room.  Took cover behind a pillar while I made sure the weapon was set to autofire.  Then I hit the tunnels, took them all the way over to the Cellars extract under the forklift room, without encountering anyone.  Quieted down, listened, and then went up the stairs - no one in these spawn areas, and no one down the glass corridor.  Ran down the corridor, repaired the control panel, and then exited the corridor.  No sign of anyone, no scavs.  The door to Gate 3 is already open.  Went to Gate 3, hoping to not get camped, and extracted.   This raid was a run-through, my first ever.

Time in Raid: a couple minutes
Exp: 65

Mistakes

  • run-through

Successes

  • completed quest
  • made Level 13

Raid 77 - Bedazzled

Spawned into area next to breach room, the spawn adjacent to the difficult forklift spawn. Listened carefully - is there a player in the next spawn?  There is!  I switched to autofire and took cover at the end of the hall, leaning out aiming down sight to cover the hallway.
Suddenly there were loud footsteps running outside, approaching my door that leads to the main generator room. What the heck? I backed away from the intersection and faced that door. It opened and I opened fire. I sank a half a magazine of rounds into my visitor before PWAF!! He flashed me with one of those star rounds from a KS-23.  I was utterly blinded.  I could tell by the sound that my rounds weren't hitting him anymore - they were hitting a wall . I tried to adjust my fire, but I was dead. TheRealDoughboy shot me with Shrap 10.  Nice play, TheRealDoughboy!

But TheRealDoughboy's victory might have been short lived. On my post-mortem screen I could see that I also suffered a minor injury from an F-1 hand grenade.  I think my spawn buddy down the hall may have gotten himself a double serving of loot.  Congratulations to whoever that was.

Time In Raid: 21 seconds
Exp: 0
Ammo Used: 27  Hits: 9  Accuracy: 0.33 Damage to Body: 128  Damage to Armor: 338

Mistakes

  • not dropping TheRealDoughBoy quicker
  • I didn't really think anybody was going to come through that door. Had I fully appreciated that, I perhaps could have sought cover. Though, I don't even know if there is cover in that room - I certainly didn't have enough time to look around and find it.

Successes

  • was not taken completely unawares - heard the interloper approaching and adjusted my aim accordingly.  I put a lot of rounds into TheRealDoughboy before being flashed

PostScript

In both of these raids with combat there are two things that could have changed the outcome:
  • aiming better (by which I mean, the head)
  • better ammo.  Would AP6.3 or 7N31 have tilted these outcomes for me?  Those ammos are 1.2K and 2.2K per round on the flea market, respectively.  I haven't unlocked the traders for them yet.  And I need Workbench 2 to craft AP6.3, which I can't get until I'm level 15.  A single 30 round magazine of AP6.3 costs 36K (and usually more), which is what I pay for that Press armor.  I usually have about 120 to 150 rounds in four or five magazines.  That would more than double the cost of my loadouts.

Field of Fire of Emplaced Weapons at Lighthouse USEC Base, for BEARS

On the new Lighthouse map, the USEC rogues are very aggressive against BEARS and will sight on you out to 300 meters or more, and will fire on you far quicker than they will on a USEC PMC.  The fixed guns are particularly dangerous as they can kill you with a single hit when you might not even realize you are close to the base. I made a map with some fields of fire noted on it. There are two mounted machine guns on building 1 , two mounted machine guns and a grenade launcher on building 2 , and a single machine gun on building 3 .  Plus there is a mounted machine gun and grenade launcher on the southwest corner of the base (lower right on this map).  I have noted the general field of fire of each of these weapons on the map. Obviously, there is a lot of cover, so just because you are standing in a red zone on this map doesn't necessarily mean you can be seen and hit. BUT, if there is any sort of line of sight (including through trees, bushes, walls and vehicles) and you are BEAR, t

On "The Video"

No doubt, anyone following Tarkov has seen the video from Goat:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p5LfGcDB7Ek If you've read my blog before, you know I've tried tracking cheaters in the past by checking all my kills and killers in the in-game chat tool over time. I made several posts, the last of which was this one:  https://itarkovpoorly.blogspot.com/2022/06/counting-cheater-part-4.html My take on the video?  The reason it's called "The wiggle that killed tarkov" is because if cheaters are signaling each other via wiggling, it means there is a CULTURE of cheating and cheaters. And that's the shocking thing. It's not just "some people cheat", it's that there is a whole CULTURE of people cheating, with their own set of spoken/unspoken rules, behaviors, norms and manners. And if you've got a whole culture around something, then it's likely widespread and endemic. And disappointing.  Someone made the remark on Reddit that watching the vi

Counting Cheaters - Part 4

Methodology Because of this blog, I have a record of the name of everyone who kills me, as well as a mostly complete record of the name of everyone I manage to kill.  Every two months this wipe (12.12) I look up all those names in the in-game chat tool.  The presumption being that if a name is no longer in the chat tool then either that person changed their name, or they were banned for cheating.   It is not a perfect methodology nor do I have a lot of data, but it's far better than just going by feel, which is what most people do. The arguments about cheating on Reddit are mostly silly as people just try to generalize anecdotal experiences.  My Anecdotal Experience Since I broached the topic, here is my own anecdotal experience. Before I started doing this I didn't feel like I had encountered many cheaters in Wipe 12.12.  Just a couple.   But since I've started tracking, my view has become more jaundiced and now I have more suspicions. BUT, overall this wipe, I feel like I
